WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR SUG CHAIRS?
The chairs provided by the Students’ Union Government were acquired for the comfort and convenience of students across campus. These assets were intended to serve as public property for the collective benefit of the student community. However, it has been observed that a significant number of these chairs are no longer available at their designated locations. Their current status remains unclear to the student body. Questions arising from this development include whether the chairs have been damaged, misplaced, sold, or relocated without proper communication and due process.
Accountability is a fundamental principle of leadership, especially in student governance where public trust and transparency must be upheld. The Students’ Union Government, as custodians of student resources, has a duty to account for all assets procured with students’ funds and to ensure their proper use, maintenance, and preservation. The absence of clear information regarding the SUG chairs undermines this trust and creates room for speculation among students. This correspondence is therefore not intended as an attack on any administration, but as a formal call for clarity and responsible stewardship.
In view of the foregoing, we respectfully urge the new administration to take immediate steps to investigate the whereabouts and condition of the SUG chairs. Where necessary, efforts should be made to recover, repair, or replace missing or damaged items. More importantly, measures should be put in place to safeguard all SUG assets and prevent future loss or mismanagement. Student resources must be protected and managed solely in the interest of student welfare, not treated as personal or private property. We trust that the Voltage administration will act promptly to restore confidence and demonstrate commitment to transparency and accountability.
